Much loved Australian indie-folk artist Christopher Coleman tours New Zealand for the first time in July and August, crossing the Tasman to celebrate the release of his self-titled debut album, out now via MGM/Southbound.
Joined by local troubadour Monty Bevins, Coleman will play 18 shows in 25 days, hitting major centres and regional towns all around the country.
Known for his exuberant and charming stage presence, Coleman traverses folk, blues and rock, weaving evocative, narrative driven songs, cheeky stage banter, and audience sing-a-longs for a show that has been described as “an incredible hour of organic, seemingly effortless, and inspiring music” (Aphra Magazine) and “captivating and mesmerising, making it easy to become lost in Coleman’s world” (The AU Review).
Coleman's debut album opened at number 3 on the Australian iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts, and has been met with rave reviews in Australia, including “the best debut album I’ve heard in the last 10 years” (independentaustralia.net), “this is a sort of Tasmanian version of a younger Neil Young and Friends” (Get Shot Magazine) and “their music immediately draws you in, with smooth vocals, compelling songwriting and catchy melodies that fascinate and leave you wanting more” (Beat Magazine).
