Formed in 2009, Parents have become a mainstay of the Auckland hardcore punk community. Underpinned by a distinctive and frantic energy, their sound blends melody and discordance into an unpredictable, cathartic haze. Following the release and tour of their debut self-titled album in 2013, Parents move quickly to unleash their new EP Low Life.
Low Life is 8 songs of claustrophobic, noisy, and left-field hardcore punk. While Parents offered moments of calm before descending into grinding outbursts, “Low Life” is focussed purely on disorder and aggression. Influences of power-violence, grindcore, and sludge are encompassed, and the result is monstrous.
Released on 7” vinyl and digital formats, Low Life is available August 2014.
