Whatever happened to Tommy Ill' Did he die' Is he dead'

Tom’s had a busy year making video games and trying to get rich so he hasn’t had much time to do any shows… so maybe we should do a show' OK then, here’s a show! Or maybe it's a Christmas party' I mean, feel free to dress festive, but don’t feel obligated. BYO Mistletoe. At the very least it’s an excuse to get drunk. Just come and party with us and our friends, OK'

Not trying to brag, but we’ve got some pretty cool friends. You may have heard of wunderkid RACE BANYON. He’s playing. He’s pretty good. We’ve also got RANDA coming down from Auckland - Lars just won the critics choice NZ Music award. HEY FUNBOYS are going to DJ the end of the night. They’ve been ripping Auckland a new one lately (or so they have told me). Filling the gaps throughout the show we have Meow’s own HANDSOME DAN smashing out hits to keep the party moving.

So come along and have a good time!

Set Times:

11:45 Tommy Ill

TOMMY ILL is a rapper and a kind hearted gentleman. He makes upbeat, danceable rap songs about heartbreak and drinking. His friends DJ Prom Queen and Shorty K join him on stage for vocal and moral support. They've performed at The Big Day out, Homegrown, Camp A Low Hum, and La De Da NYE. Stuff.co.nz says he's “one of the best and most original rappers to come out of Wellington”, and Salient Magazine reckons, one of the most interesting and entertaining voices in modern New Zealand music. Tommy Ill's latest album Fearless Bueller is available for free download on his Bandcamp page.

RACE BANYON mixes the pulse and musicality of Chicago house, juke and footwork with the raw emotional heft of modern RnB and the uninhibited theatrics of contemporary hip-hop. Since releasing his Whatever Dreams Are Made Of EP in 2013, Race Banyon has created remixes for The Phoenix Foundation, Doprah and Grayson Gilmour, acquiring well deserved praise throughout the New Zealand music, media and radio landscape. And Justin Bieber follows him on twitter.

RANDA, otherwise known as Mainard Larkin, is a young rapper from Auckland, New Zealand who began recording songs while living atop a Sydney laundromat in 2011. Upon moving home to attend a production course, he released 'Lunch Box EP' under childhood nickname Randa. These first few tracks(often referencing the fun and irreverent) saw him quickly gain attention from alternative radio. In Summer 2012, Larkin's raw and unorthodox live performances included enviable slots opening for Grimes and Crystal Castles. A music video for bedroom production 'Frankenstein' was released in 2013 which picked up a nomination for best new video at the NZVMAs. Randa has since featured on Dan Aux's tracks 'Kelly Bundy' and 'Rockstars', played at major events including The Big Day Out '14 and is currently anticipating the release of 'Rangers EP' produced by Josh Fountain(Golden Age Studios).
