On Wednesday the 4th of March, Re:fuel will hold its 4th Social Nite of the year featuring a range of musical tastes and styles for free to the public from 8.30pm onwards. This particular evening will be host to three fantastic Dunedin acts: Aquatic Apes, Palace Rats, and Beach Wolf.
Aquatic Apes are a Dunedin based 2-piece consisting of Ben Fielding(Ostrander Aardvark, Beach Wolf) on Drums and Regan McManus(TLA, Queen Annes Revenge) on Bass Guitar. AA's music covers groovy lines and punk grinds, poppy lyrics and catchy chants. A new band on the Dunedin scene, and one not to be missed.
Palace Rats is an indie-rock band from Dunedin; instilling fresh life into traditional rock and pop elements, they stand in stark contrast to Dunedin's emerging lo-fi/alternative pop scene. Fusing the fervour of British indie-rock like The Libertines and Bloc Party with New York style pop-rock tunesmiths like The Strokes, Palace Rats create a visceral experience in their live shows for at least half the audience every time, 60% of the time.
Beach Wolf are a four piece guitar rock band. Boasting more luminaries than an Eleanor Catton novel – including members of pioneering Dunedin Sound bands 'Fun Time'', 'Queen Annes Revenge', 'Mr. Cool', & 'Bugsy Alone' – their sound draws from the slacker vibes of heavyweight 90's bands such as 'Television' and 'The Locust'.
