Gig Information

Starting off busking on the street of Wellington, the hard work of seasoned folk musician Graeme James has certainly paid off. His first original album ‘News From Nowhere’, out in September 2016, rose to number 3 on the NZ Album Charts and was a finalist in the NZ Vodafone Music Folk Album of The Year 2017. His captivating show is one not to be missed- with electric violin, guitar, bass, baritone ukulele, mandolin, harmonica, beats and vocals, he is a true one man band.

W.I.M.S. will feature four diverse, self-made acts, highlighting the quality, showmanship and talent we have here in Wellington: busker turned seasoned folky Graeme James, folk-country duo LOST BiRD, folk-rockers Miles Calder & The Rumours and American roots ensemble The Frank Burkitt Band.

These crafted, hour long concerts will take place in the historic Heyday Dome Stage at BATs and will be a rare chance to see these excellent songwriters in such an intimate setting. There will also be a short film accompanying each performance. As well as entertain and inspire, these shows will also serve to give audiences more of an insight into the hard work and day to day life of an independent musician.
