Gig Information

Handsome Tours and Endeavour Live Presents are thrilled to announce LA’s Girlpool are coming to New Zealand this September in support of their critically-acclaimed album, What Chaos Is Imaginary. The duo, consisting of Cleo Tucker and Harmony Tividad will be playing shows in Auckland and Wellington before completing their tour across Australia.

Co-produced by Girlpool and David Tolomei (Future Islands, Beach House, Dirty Projectors) What Chaos Is Imaginary is a collection of songs unlike any Girlpool songs you’ve ever heard, exactly what Powerplant was to Before The World Was Big. For the first time, it is clear who wrote what song. 2019 will see drum machines and synthesizers and beautiful/new harmonies and huge guitars and at least one orchestral breakdown by a string octet.

“It was invigorating playing stripped down and raw when Girlpool began. As we change, what gets us there is going to change too.” It’s hard to imagine what might follow What Chaos Is Imaginary. Girlpool’s growth has a steady momentum forward, towards something greater with every stride that they take. Be sure to catch them this September as they embark across Australia and New Zealand.

Praise for What Chaos is Imaginary

There's an elevated maturity and sense of daring that makes What Chaos is Imaginary a beautifully textured record to get lost in. - NZherald

Ever-evolving as songwriters has led to each album being a snapshot of a band in the midst of evolution, and What Chaos Is Imaginary is Girlpool's biggest leap yet. -Consequence of Sound

Girlpool's full-band transformation has illuminated its raw sound in deep and unexpected ways. -NPR

“A new approach to songwriting, as informed by the members’ solo efforts, helps mark this record as Girlpool 2.0 – more like a collaborating duo than a unit, but nonetheless captivating.” - TheMusic.com.au
