Gig Information

Audio Foundation proudly presents the third concert in the Summer Series, this time hosted at AF HQ! Featuring collaborations between local legends and international friends.

Wednesday 5 February
Audio Foundation
Doors at 8PM

Akio Suzuki / Phil Dadson
Legendary NZ sonic artist Phil Dadson, known for his work in From Scratch, creating art and music out of videotape, PVC pipes and rocks and much, much more, reunites with his old friend Japanese sound artist Akio Suzuki for one show only. Akio Suzuki has been performing, building instruments, and presenting sound installations for four decades. His music is simple and pure, exploring how natural atmospheres and sounds can be harnessed and then set free. To experience his art is to lose oneself in the sound that surrounds us.

Roger Turner / Hermione Johnson
Turner has been working as an improvising percussionist since the early 1970’s, collaborating in numerous established and ad hoc configurations. He is one of the world's most prolific 'junk' percussionists. He joins local pianist and sonic artist Hermione Johnson for an exploration into the prepared piano, for what should be an unmissable collaboration.

Arthur Bull / Paul Buckton
Canadian guitarist Arthur Bull is a veteran musician of the improvising music scene. He is also a poet, with four books published, and a translator from the Chinese. He is joined by the irrepressible and knotty local guitarist Paul Buckton.

Scott Thomson
Scott Thomson is a trombonist and composer based in Montreal

Aki Onda
Aki Onda is a New York-based artist, composer and curator. He is known for his “Cassette Memories”—works compiled from a “sound diary” of field-recordings collected by using the cassette Walkman over a span of last three decades.
