Gracie Young is 15, born in Titirangi Auckland, Emily-Rose is 13 born in Dunedin, and Dad Richard was raised in Canada. They
have lived in Dunedin for 16 years and this is home. They have loved music together since the girls were babies and dad played guitar while they ‘sang’ in the bath tub. The girls have kept up their musical passion. Emily-Rose sings and plays Ukulele and piano and Gracie sings and plays guitar. They have both been finalists at Gold Guitar for solo and duet and Gracie won the Junior category in 2018. Emily-Rose is also a song writer and has won 3 national awards for her song writing. They love playing music and singing together.
The Young Family's influences are folk, country, and contemporary songs and they love songs that tell a story. For this folk club feature concert, they will be playing some solos, duets and group songs.
The family have been members of Dunedin Folk Club for 5 years and have loved joining the Thursday open mic sessions.
