VÏKÆ & Nur Peach
LIVE at the Back Room, Thames
6th February, 2021

Adult $20.00
Youth/Unwaged $15.00

2020 has seen this young artist already make some serious waves within the NZ music scene. Releasing her debut EP ‘FINELINES’, VÏKÆ has amassed 100s of 1000s of streams with honourable mentions in the NZ Official Hot 20 and Top 20 Charts as well as The SRN Charts. VÏKÆ just completed a nationwide tour and is working towards a series of summer shows as well as new music to be released in 2021. Originally born in Ukraine, VÏKÆ (Veronika Bell) and her family sought refuge in NZ post Chernobyl. Accepting a place within tertiary study towards a
degree in opera singing, Veronika floated between genres: classical, music theatre, pop and eventually graduating with an Hons Degree in Performance Jazz.

Immediately after graduation, she released her first single with 4.ORTNITE Records (NZ), started a band (VTMNK) and became a resident vocalist for The Dunedin City Jazz Orchestra.

With music stemming from a form of catharsis and healing, VÏKÆ tells personal stories of struggle with mental and physical illnesses, new beginnings and a voice for the voiceless to feel less alone.

Veronika will be performing an entirely acoustic solo set in an intimate setting performing a mixture of released and unreleased material.

“VïKÆ performs a mix of up-tempo Pop tracks and softer piano music which showed her diversity as a musician. Performing without a backing band VïKÆ has a strong stage presence. There is a lot of heart and depth to Vikae’s songs and she performs them with that same fiery emotion live…
VïKÆ is a classically trained singer and she used every chance to showcase the range in her voice during her performance.” - Craig Westenberg (Something Different)

VÏKÆ’s eclectic array of influences include Taylor Swift, The Rolling Stones, Dr Hook and Ella Fitzgerald.

Nur Peach

Nur Peach grew up surrounded by music and has been singing all her life. Born in New Zealand’s beautiful Coromandel Peninsula, and having lived there all her life, she has always been surrounded by the inspiring beauty of nature. As the daughter of a professional musician, there were always musical instruments around and performance opportunities since a very young age. At the age of five, Nur began to write her own songs.

By the time she was nine years old, Nur had already performed in many places in New Zealand and around the world, including Israel and busking on the streets of Paris, accompanied by her father Dylan Wade on guitar. It was at that age that Wade began to teach his daughter how to play guitar herself, and that same year when she began piano lessons. Today, Nur writes and accompanies herself on both guitar and piano.

In 2013, Nur won the Intermediate section in the Purple Cake Day “Kenya Song Challenge,” and in 2015, she was the Waikato regional winner for the APRA Lyric Award at the Smokefreerockquest. In 2016, Nur was the Waikato regional winner of the Play it Strange “Get Connected” song writing competition for her song “Feel the Sun,” which she recorded at Roundhead Studios. Her four-track acoustic EP, “Hello World,” released in 2015, is much played on many people’s stereos. She is currently studying towards a Bachelor of Music (specialising in popular music) at The University of Auckland.

Nur combines folk, pop and rock into her own distinctive sound. Her songs' inspirational and uplifting lyrical content is both personal and universal. Her mission is to inspire people to create positive changes in both the world and themselves.
