Gitbox Rebellion is an innovative and exciting seven-piece guitar ensemble who perform intricate and clever original compositions, as well as a few much loved guitar hero covers, such as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and Guitar Boogie. Founded by Nigel Gavin, Gitbox have toured regionally and nationally, releasing two albums: Pesky Digits (featuring nine guitars) and Touchwood (featuring four guitars, cello, violin, tabla, and flute. In 2017, the group was reformed and now features seven guitars. The original members, Nigel Gavin, Kim Halliday, and Russell Hughes, are joined by Rob Mita, Sonia Wilson, Tomislav Skulic, and Sam Loveridge. Gitbox has recently performed at Titirangi Folk Fest, Waiheke Jazz Fest, Maritime Museum, and Mt Eden Village Hall.
