Gig Information

Bowl of Brooklands presents….. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.

One of Australia’s most prolific rock bands, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are bringing their unique sound to New Plymouth this summer for a concert at the Bowl of Brooklands, one of only four NZ appearances.

The Melbourne-based musos will headline the concert, which will also feature Taranaki band Greenbathing and fellow Kiwi bands Half Hexagon and Carnivorous Plant Society.

King Gizzard have released new music at a frenetic pace, and their desire to seek out fresh sounds and follow new paths - from expansive jazz-rock, to semi-acoustic ballads and from sci-fi sound to garage - means they’re the ultimate post-genre jam band.

Currently on tour in the US, don’t miss your chance to see one of Australia's most innovative, important and productive rock bands.

Half Hexagon
Fresh on the scene, Auckland based electronic trio Half Hexagon features Yolanda Fagan (Na Noise, Echo Ohs, Bozo), James Milne (Lawrence Arabia, Chabs & Milky) and Julien Dyne (Avantdale Bowling Club).
What began as a musical correspondence during the 2021 lockdown came excitedly into focus with the blending of James' analog synths, Julien playing Jaki Liebezeit influenced beats and Yolanda adding her heavily effected vocals to the mix.

Carnivorous Plant Society
Led by musician and animator Finn Scholes, this talented quintet is made up of some of New Zealand's most accomplished musicians who play an astounding array of instruments - trumpets, violin, vibraphone, tuba, guitar, synthesizers, keyboards, bass, drums, the odd vocal and even some whistling.
Mexican mariachi mixes with spaghetti western; futuristic sci-fi blends with bizarre, spine-chilling nuances drawn from Stephen King novels – this is a band that ignites the imaginations of children and adults alike.

Greenbathing
Erupting from Taranaki in 2020 preaching stories of hopeful, Greenbathing has been refining a timeless, raw sound that shows no mercy.
Soaring harmonies, thunderous beats and small-town pub ruckus fuel this genre-bending five piece in their endeavours to the ends of the earth.
