With his new album, Curious Growth, under his arm, Richie Setford is winging his way from his current residence in Berlin for a good ol' Aotearoa summer and two solo concerts that will showcase his new material and include a smattering of old favs and smoky covers.
Many in New Zealand will know Richie from his work under previous alias Bannerman and before that as part of “big bands” Batucada Sound Machine and One Million Dollars. After releasing the last Bannerman album Clawhammer at Auckland's Wine Cellar in June 2013, he left to further his career in Europe and hasn't played in New Zealand since.
These two shows will support the release of Curious Growth, which came out early November and has been described in the German media as “one of the most
discoverable albums of the year” (Sound & Books), “laid back and liberated” (Piste Magazine) and “a pleasure not to be missed” (MAZ newspaper).
Whilst in Berlin, Richie has either performed with or supported a host of indie artists such as Sean Nicholas Savage, Molly Nilsson, DENA, Julia Jacklin, The Magic
Numbers, Marlon Williams, Discovery Zone, Margaret Glaspy, Kat Frankie and John Moods and after ditching the Bannerman pseudonym, in October 2019 he released the Aimless Survivor EP, the frst under his given name. Richie also writes and records under the name Bliss Creek and with Andres Barlesi under the name Harmonie Fields.
