This dynamic showcase features three of Auckland's rising female singer-songwriter producers, taking the stage at BIG FAN, the city's newest music venue and studio in Morningside. Our goal is to inspire and empower wahine artists to confidently embrace all aspects of the music creation process.
LÉVYNE
Lévyne creates an expressive, honest and uplifting voice to tap into when you feel like you need a boost. Her mix of self-produced and collaborative works are layered with detail while demanding to hit you square in the chest, polished and powerful while remaining raw and relatable. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, years of production experience, dance and musical performances and instrument lessons have culminated into an impressive set of notches on her belt. Lévyne's live shows and festival performances are all the evidence you need, not to mention her appearances playing in other bands around the country.
As a frequent collaborator Lévyne has grown an impressive roster of involvement with other New Zealand artists including Leaping Tiger and Shannon Matthew Vanya. From bursting on the scene with crowd favourite 'Misfit' in 2018, to her latest single 'Hospital', each new release from Lévyne is an invitation to journey through personal expression, growth and acceptance.
KEELEY SHADE
Canadian born and NZ raised artist Keeley Shade blends visual lyricism with emotive alt-pop production and indie-rock instrumentation. Shade's latest single, Restless, showcases her versatility as a multi-talented artist, having written, recorded, produced, and mixed the track.
Integrating her background in fine art and TV editing, Shade also designs and conceptualises all of her cover artworks and promotional content.
Shade made a powerful entrance into the music scene with her debut single On My Mind in 2021, which received critical acclaim and found a place in the Hot NZ Singles Top 20 and NZ On Air's New Tracks. Her heartfelt follow-up EP Give Me Time, made a similarly strong impact, charting in the Top 20 NZ Albums alongside local heavy hitters. Drawing comparisons to Chelsea Jade, The XX, and Holly Humberstone, and labelled an already accomplished songwriter by NZ Musician, Keeley Shade is one to watch this year.
ISLA NOON
Ambitious and elevated, Auckland-based artist Isla Noon has burst onto the scene with a distinctive cool-toned energy. Heralded by Rolling Stone Australia as “a powerhouse of indie-pop songwriting”, Noon’s visceral and sensory narrative style shines in the recent single ‘I Need To Go Home’, as she sings “I see a glistening line of spilled red wine like a runway to the door”. With a bold physicality to her lyricism and production, Isla Noon’s specialty lies in electrifying melodic hooks that hit the listener right where it hurts the best.
The songwriting and production process is an extension of Noon’s personality - diligent, deeply emotive and self-assured. The result is a strength of songwriting that has garnered early comparisons to the likes of indie-pop heavyweights Robyn, Troye Sivan, Maggie Rogers and MUNA.
