4 different acts will play a variety of kiwi songs and originals starting at 4.30pm .
Andy Thompson and Barry Smith - Andy is from the West Coast and has been an active performer since the 70s as a soloist, fronting bands like Beyond a Joke and a playwright with a very memorable production about Rewi Alley and others. He has recently returned from playing Peace Concerts in Oregon, Vancouver and Banf. Barry Smith has been the bassman behind many notable kiwi acts including Mark Bradford and John Grenell.
Kristina Godfrey and Tony Hale have been in a duo for 8 years. Kristina is a singer-songwriter who released her first album of original songs Good Enough For Love 'in 2018 at the Christchurch Folk Music Club . Tony is a fine finger-style guitarist who enjoys exploring new tunings, styles and songs. He puts on the annual guitar concert Fingerpicking Delights at the Christchurch Folk Club. They recently shared songs at the Balcairn Hall in North Canterbury and supported also the empowerment of woman at this year's U.N. Woman's fundraiser at the Chateau on the Park, Dunedin's Whare Flat Folk Festival and locally at house concerts .
Co-op Music is a Christchurch based act who have been collaborating since 2010.
Co-op is made up of Tumanako Tinirau (Tu) on vocal and Jonny Cartwright on guitar. Tu and Jonny have been performing and working in the music industry for 20 years. Co-op are a seasoned duo that perform regularly in Christchurch and beyond. Co-op put there own spin on classic songs and kiwi tracks utilizing live looping and effects to take the audience on a groovy soulful ride
Famous Down Under is a 4 piece electric band that have been in existence for the last year. Chris Mcewin and John Strong are from the Fabulous Blue Beats , Patrick Doyle is the guitarist and vocalist in Baltimore Jack who have been around in one form or another for the last 20 years and Ron van Lindt who has come out of retirement to play with these guys and was regular performer at the Southern Blues Bar with bands like Brothers Grim .Together FDU cover many kiwi songs from The Underdogs to the Verlaines and more plus some of their own originals
