VIDA's sound is inspired by sonic innovators such as Björk, Flying Lotus, Prince, and Sun Ra, creating a unique sound of alien jazz that exists somewhere between neo-soul and experimental art-pop. With a background in dance, theatre, fine arts and ritual, VIDA brings an interdisciplinary approach to her songwriting and live performance. Vida sees performance as a fertiliser of collective joy and uses visionary science fiction to offer somatic rituals of queer love-in-action and radical kinship. VIDA is based in Tāmaki Makaurau and gives mihi to this whenua for it's upbringing of her essence and sound.
