“Wow, you guys gave me so much energy” - MJ Lenderman, 2024
Menzies, post-punk Te Whanganui-a-Tara four-piece, have gained a name for arresting live performances. Dancing from weighty post-punk to heart-felt ruminations on childhood, their songs express the wildly relatable. After releasing their blistering EP 'Spaghetti Land' they tour Te Ika-a-Māui this July.
“Turned up at the Karori swimming pool, and knew I shouldn’t have turned up”, and
“It cost me twenty bucks, you see, to buy my favourite DVD, don’t judge me, it was Notting Hill”
It’s no surprise the band hits so hard with the experience and passion of the musicians involved - magnetic front-man Chris Brown (Friendlies), Miles Sutton (Welcomer, Prizegiving), Nikita Piper (Friendlies, Androgynous Lemon), and Doug Kelly (Doledrums, Girlboss). The band brought in Oliver Devlin (Hans Pucket) to mix the EP, and Tui award winning Vivek Gabriel, Gabriel Audio for mastering.
