Theatrical, bold and charismatic singer-songwriter Isabella Jane is one to watch. A natural storyteller, she has a passion for writing lyrics and creating melodies that her audience can connect to and feel understood by. Isabella Jane sees music as a tool for self-expression and an opportunity to turn the lows of life into beauty, one song at a time.
In 2023, Isabella Jane had the privilege of being accepted into the Artist Development Program at Sole Music Academy in Christchurch. Over the course of a year, she immersed herself in the intricacies of the music industry, honing her craft as both a performer and songwriter under the guidance of some of Aotearoa's most esteemed mentors.
As a top 12 finalist in TVNZ's 'Take The Mic' competition, she released her first professionally recorded original song 'Seventeen' and music video in 2022 (now available to watch on YouTube and TVNZ on demand). Isabella Jane has been a finalist in the Play it Strange competition, which afforded her the opportunity to record her song 'Leave', and have it added to the Play it Strange Spotify playlist. She has competed in various Rockquests throughout the years as lead singer and songwriter of her school band 'Goodbye Thursday'. Winning regionals twice, best song thrice and getting through to the top 30 in Aotearoa in 2023. Isabella Jane has performed in many key Christchurch venues with her original set, including the Darkroom, A Rolling Stone, and Wunderbar in Lyttelton; however, she believes it is time to bring the show home to Methven before she departs from New Zealand to see the world.
Isabella Jane was raised on a farm on the outskirts of a small town, the youngest of a large and very musical family, in a house always filled with the hum of music. A loud child with a lot of thoughts and a wild imagination always had something to sing about. Isabella Jane quotes I do not remember a time when I didn't write music.
Isabella Jane desires to bring the stage to life through her captivating performance and connect to every listener. She dreams of creating cathartic music that people can connect to and scream along with, unashamedly.
