Darkroom’s free, informal, peer-run sessions are back - and this time, we’re diving into the real shit that doesn’t get talked about enough in the music world.
Want to be part of creating a safer, more inclusive music scene?
Wondering how to use your words, art, and presence to help set a positive tone in our community?
Not sure what to do if you see or experience something that makes you feel uncomfortable?
Want to find out about what tools, organisations and resources are out there for music community members to access for free?
We've got a bunch of info to share with you, from general gig etiquette and inclusive language, to tips and tricks for de-escalation and bystander intervention. Whether you’re on stage, behind the scenes, or in the audience, this session will help us all with some practical tools to be able to keep fostering safer gig experiences.
Weds May 21st
Doors open 7pm, talk starts 7:30pm
Free snacks! Plus the bar will be open if you'd like to buy a drink.
These sessions are R18 but parents may wish to bring their kids or young people along at their own discretion. All minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
Content note and activation warning:
Please note this topic is a bit of a heavier one, so our crew will navigate the session cautiously using non-specific examples. There may still be some broader mentions of misconduct including sexual harm, violence and discrimination that understandably may cause discomfort and distress for many folks.
Please look after yourself and others around you.
