Lipstick are back! Celebrating the release of their brand new single 'Giving it up' with a show at Valhalla on the 18th of June with friends Caught Inside and Molipane.
Lipstick burst onto the scene in 2024 with a high-energy blend of alternative indie rock, quickly making a name for themselves in their first year with punchy hooks and electric live shows. Now, they return with their latest single 'Giving it up' —a slow-build banger produced by Joe Ledword (Wet Denim) that brings swagger and emotional weight without losing the groove. With a sound that moves from gritty to euphoric, Lipstick are proving they’re here for more than just a moment.
Caught Inside are diasporic Jaffas based in Pōneke, blending eclectic punk and politicised pop with the raw urgency of early 2000s indie, jazz-informed musicianship, and a flair for melodic chaos. Since relocating from their Karangahape Road stomping ground in 2022 to study at the New Zealand School of Music, they’ve made a sharp impact on the local scene—highlighted by a performance at Cuba Dupa 2024 and the release of their 2023 project Five Star Shag, produced by Emily Wheatcroft-Snape (Lorde, Fazerdaze). Most recently, they opened for Australian duo Old Mervs at Meow in Wellington on May 2nd, continuing to carve out their space as a fierce and unpredictable live act.
Molipane are an alternative indie rock/shoegaze band based in Wellington, New Zealand. Blending hazy textures with heavy, emotionally charged dynamics reminiscent of Deftones, their sound balances intensity with atmosphere. The band made their live debut on April 23rd at San Fran, introducing audiences to their immersive and powerful sonic world. With a raw energy and a focus on mood-driven songwriting, Molipane are quickly establishing themselves as a compelling presence in Aotearoa’s alternative music scene.
