Fence Pulse is a free improvisational night, to be held at Brayshaw Park Chapel on a semi-regular basis.
It's koha entry and anyone is welcome to turn up, put their name into 'the hat' and play a 15 minute set as part of a trio.
The idea is to create an encouraging environment to muck around with lesser accepted, but totally valid (!!) modes of sound expression like free-jazz, noise or anything bubbling under that big broad 'Avant-Garde' umbrella. But why limit things to sound?? Fence Pulse evening's invite other forms of creativity into the mix - dancers, poets, painters, sculpters - all are welcome to come down and express themselves how they see fit. Of course, if you'd rather be an audience member well that's just great too!
If Fence Pulse has a mission, it is to redeploy emphasis away from the 'finished product' and back toward the creative act itself. Focusing on spontaneous composition in a live setting can open up all sorts of juicy, chewy stuff. We may find ourselves grappling with questions around capitalism, spirituality, our collective value systems and the meaning of it all...
So come dive in, the creative broth beckons!
