Be taken on a narrative journey told through tunes from three local beatmakers. From the eclectic earworms of trip hop producer Vanessa Tottle, to the ethereal stylings and vocal prowess of the genre-bending MxDicey, to the club-friendly experimentalism of darkwave artist Talmar.
The sirens of Homer’s Odyssey numbered just two, so the power of these three acts combined is sure to leave none unmoved.

THE ARTISTS:
Talmar
Tamaki Makaurau-based darkwave artist Talmar is the musical project of visual artist Hannah Berry.
Known for her emotive and atmospheric compositions, Talmar blends club-friendly experimentalism with elements of Darkwave and Industrial music. Her previous releases are characterised by moody textures, dramatic electronic arrangements, and ethereal, effected vocals.
Steadily building up a stream of live shows under her belt in Auckland across iconic venues including Whammy Backroom and Cupid Bar, her latest single ‘Mercurial' was released in late 2024, which embraced a more dance-focused sound while retaining Talmar's signature palette of chilling synths and swirling, silky vocals.
With a growing local and international listenership and more releases in the works, Talmar continues to carve out a unique space in New Zealand's music scene.
Vanessa Tottle
Vanessa Tottle is a Trip Hop singer songwriter and music producer from Auckland. After releasing her debut album Take Control in Feb this year, Vanessa is amped to perform some of her Trip Hop ear worm tracks for an intimate audience along with MxDicey & Talmar at Cupid Bar Pt Chev this July! The instrumental tracks Vanessa has chosen for her set, tells a story and weaves it into your minds as you listen. The chance for Vanessa to expand on the thought process before diving into each track will certainly leave you wanting more - Vanessa's set will also include some sultry vocals which will certainly take you to another dimension this winter!
MxDicey
MxDicey (Marissa Holder) is a half-Trinidadian half-Anglo-Indian singer-songwriter born in Essex, London. After graduating from the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art in Ōtautahi, they relocated to Tāmaki Makaurau where they pursue creative projects including recording jingles for commercial radio, fronting the synth-pop band No Sunrise, and formerly the hard-rock group Living State.
Their fresh and ethereal solo set incorporates powerhouse vocals into a pioneering blend of alternative synth-pop, R&B, house, break-beat and soca.
