Gig Information

Songwriter Showcase #103 at Moon in Newtown.

Our four amazing acts are Nigel Parry's BDSN, Cordelia's, Floyd Marsden and Zoe Scott.

BDSN, Rocking out the social comment songs with a political edge.
What a great combination of musicians! B = Ben McHardy, drummer extrordinaire. D = Darrel Greaney bringing the ace bass and smooth harmonies S = Scott Pilgrim with his sumptuous guitar sounds. N = Nigel Parry, award winning songwriter with a big repertoire and voice to match!

Cordelia’s is an indie-folk trio (with a hint of feminine rage) from Pōneke! Thematically,
Cordelia’s explore the feminine gaze, queerness in light of societal norms, and navigate
heartache, wellbeing, and identity. The musicians create an acoustic laid-back sound with
guitar, piano, cajon, and vocal harmonies. Cordelia’s what you may ask? Watch and find
out!

Floyd Marsden is a British singer-songwriter raised in Wellington, NZ. She taught herself piano from a young age, and has been writing songs since she was thirteen. These days, she draws from inspirations such as David Bowie, Lizzy McAlpine, and Alex Turner to create a powerful blend of storytelling and composition. Her tracks range from upbeat fast-paced jazz tunes to emotional ballads that are sure to tug on your heartstrings. In 2024 she released and performed her album The Disco Lizards, where one of the songs grossed over 14,000 views on YouTube and was playlisted alongside ACDC... for some reason. Since then she has been performing in her jazz rock band New Teeth, and delicately crafting softer, intimate material for her solo works. This new style will be showcased in her upcoming performance at Moon's Songwriter Showcase.

Fresh to Poneke, after a stint of the troubadour lifestyle, Zoe Scott is a songwriter that you shouldn't miss. Her ability to weave vulnerable stories of love, loss and female rage continue to captivate audiences when paired with her powerful, yet effortless voice. With a fresh set, you can expect to be left in a puddle of tears or cursing the patriarchy.
