Gig Information

This August & September join alt-folk songwriter Greta O'Leary & Whaingaroa folk duo Moon Goose (Holly Dove and Britta Hamill), touring their brand new works 'River Dark' and ‘On the Island Where Our Shadows Lie’, with two special shared shows in the Waikato.
Raglan (August 30th) and Hamilton (September 4th).

As the the curtains of winter draw to a close, come stoke the fire in the darkness with us for an evening of ambient, slow-cooked songs, intricate harmonies and spook folk.

Taking her brand new album on tour for the first time this winter, Greta O'Leary performs 'River Dark' in stripped back trio formation, this August 30th. River Dark' is O'Leary's debut. Tender, steadfast and unraveling, it shot to #9 on the Aotearoa Official Albums Chart, features the SRN #1 singles 'Baby I'm a Singer' and 'Baptised at the Desktop Computer' and been featured by RNZ, the SRN and Rolling Stone.

Joining her on the night will be local folk duo Moon Goose who recently released their debut EP ‘On the Island Where Our Shadows Lie’, showcasing their enchanting blend of Celtic-inspired folk music, featuring both traditional songs from the British Isles and original compositions that celebrate nature, friendship, and the timeless spirit of folk music.

GRETA O'LEARY
Tāmaki Makaurau singer-songwriter and musician GRETA O'LEARY writes with clarity of vision, making introspective observations that seamlessly interlock with her spare, spacious and enthralling songcraft. Through soaring instrumentation, astute and occasionally absurd lyrics of self-reflection and her poignant voice, River Dark is a remarkable collection of confession, truth and poetry.

Celebrated local songwriter GRETA O'LEARY is releasing her highly anticipated debut album RIVER DARK. The obscure, dreamlike record was created alongside producer Jol Mulholland at LAB Studios, with Greta's hypnotic songwriting and unmistakable vocals accentuated through the skillful musicianship of instrumentalists Cass Basil (Tiny Ruins, The Veils), Alastair Deverick (Boycrush), Callum Passells (Hans Pucket) and Anita Clark (Motte). Listeners are invited deeper into Greta’s immersive and enthralling world.

“My first record, a collection of personal, ridiculous and truth telling songs. It took a long time to get here. I was a child shy and unclear, completely confused, absolutely not onboard with future, with goals or activity. I was in the field below the house, I was at the pond with the dog, I played make believe longer than most. I was taught to be quiet.”

*****************************************

Starting out as a couple of music-making pals, Moon Goose are realising their powers. These strangely adorable creatures will warm your heart with their intricate harmonies, deep folk-scapes and glittering songs.

Get ready to be swept away by stories of magic and mystery as Holly Dove (guitar, vocals and Celtic whistle), together with Britta Hamill (violin and vocals), share songs collected from travels around England and Scotland, weaving them together with their own music.

Moon Goose makes music to dream and dance to, making room for brightness and darkness as they take you on a journey dedicated to luminous places and bowing deep to the world. Their music will move you deep and good.
