Based in Aotearoa/New Zealand, Darren has built a reputation for his authentic blues sound, combining traditional influences with contemporary themes. Darren first gained recognition in the 1980s as the leader and frontman of the New Zealand band Chicago Smoke Shop. His 2020 album, Getting Sober for the End of the World, was widely praised for its sharp social commentary and musical craftsmanship, earning airplay and accolades both locally and internationally.
