Four concerts over three days, featuring international and local artists, the Martinborough Music Festival is a feast of stunning chamber music. From 19-21 September, the Festival will be 'Bringing the world to Martinborough’.
Artistic directors Wilma Smith (Melbourne) and Donald Armstrong (Wellington) will be joined by artists from Australia, Germany, Australia and Russia in a programme that includes music from Australia, Hungary, France, the US, Russia, Poland, Czechia and Argentina.
A commissioned work by renowned NZ composer Louise Webster, who has strong family ties with south Wairarapa, is also featured.
UK-based violinist Natalia Lomeiko and violinist/violist Yuri Zhislin will be joined by violist Caroline Henbest (Melbourne), and cellists Ashley Brown and Matthias Balzat (former and current NZTrio members). Internationally celebrated concert pianist Jian Liu and classical saxophonist Simon Brew round out the artists.
Concerts are at 7.30pm on Friday, 19 September; 2pm and 7.30pm on Saturday, 20 September and 2pm on Sunday, 21 September.
