LIVE MUSIC SERIES CONTINUES AT THE BUTTON FACTORY: Mema Wilda is a Sāmoan musician, songwriter and singer now based in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland. Having recorded and played extensively in the US with producers such as Peter Asher (Bonnie Raitt) and musicians including Les Claypool (Primus) and Waddy Wachtel (The Rolling Stones) Mema has returned to Aotearoa with her eccentric brand of songwriting and her new band Mema Wilda and the Dopamen.
Sharing the bill, Marmalade swing between clean-pop and indie-rock: A juicy mix of soaring vocals, honest lyricism, and groove. Their debut single ‘Bright’ hit #2 on the NZ singles chart, with follow-ups ‘Awkward’ and a YouTube playlist cover for Today’s Kiwi Hits confirming their place in Aotearoa’s new wave of indie-pop brilliance.
