Nikau Grace, is a 17-year-old singer-songwriter from Te Whānau a Apanui, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, and Te Arawa, proudly raised in the small but mighty community of Kawerau. Waiata has always been how I express who I am, where I come from, and the kaupapa I carry. As a young wāhine Māori, my identity, my reo, and my whakapapa are at the heart of everything I create.
Juice is a 33 year old takataapui solo mum raised in a small southern Utah town. Their art is largely influenced by growing up in a Māori American home. Born into a theatrical whānau, they've grown up playing on and around the stage. Juice wears many hats with their mahi in youth mentorship, sexual violence prevention, and environmental education. As a creative, they are a part of Okahukura- a collective of local artists known for their underground decolonization kaupapa.
This night is about more than just amazing music, it's about storytelling, community and collective action.
