Alan & Kristin Kelly are two founding members of the well known Irish powerhouse band the Barleyshakes and are delighted to be playing their frost ever Raglan show in the Old School Arts Centre on Friday February 6, Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start . Together the Barleyshakes bring you upbeat Celtic sounds on sweet sensuous fiddle, and spirited guitar. Recipients of Queensland Music Award for World music and notably, Alan has recorded as a bodhran soloist on the Lord of the Rings soundtrack.
Based in Queensland for 20 years now this duo are experts at their passion, and love nothing more than to delight each and every audience they perform for.
Dubliner Alan Kelly possesses the silver, storytelling, tongue so many Irish are famous for. History, humour and make-believe all come together for Alan’s live shows.
Having performed at concert halls, clubs, and festivals in over 25 countries, the Shakes take you on a journey as spirits are lifted by well-loved favorites, emotive compositions, humorous tales and sprightly jigs and reels.
Also, American, UK, Scottish, Canadian and Eastern European compositions feature, alongside original and traditional Irish tunes and songs. The Barleyshakes, through their lifelong passion and skill, will make you laugh, cry, sing, and dance.
