Gig Information

Celebrate resistance, block coal, and dance ya socks off at this festival-protest celebrating activism and art in Ōtautahi! Everyone is invited to this festival of arts, music, kai, and learning.
The problems we face are even bigger than just climate and ecological breakdown. That's why those working for peace, protecting Te Tiriti, defending workers rights, and other aligned causes are also invited to help create the big allied movement that we need.
The festival is being organised by Climate Liberation Aotearoa. It will be held next to the train tracks, and serves a dual purpose of public engagement and celebration, as well as providing cover for a group of protesters to block the coal trains coming from the West Coast. There will be options for those interested in participation in non-violent direct action (NVDA), completely legal support roles, or if NVDA isn’t your thing that's all good - come along to the festival to enjoy a day of celebration and joy!
Join us in disrupting Bathurst Resources and saving the Denniston plateau by fighting against the fast-track, and fighting for the climate we all rely on!
The festival will be in the trees just north of the intersection between SH76 and SH74a, near the Tannery.
Please note that this will be an alcohol and drug free event ?.
Please fill out this form if you are interesting on coming - especially if you wish to partake in blocking the coal trains or any volunteer roles. However, you are most welcome to attend even if you have not filled out this form. It simply allows us to contact you with the latest updates and information about the Carnival. https://forms.gle/uJqXjFVv7r5UF9LH7
This will be a co-created event, so please, get stuck in. Bring and create what is magical and inspiring to you, to help us to all feel what a world worth striving for, could be like. We are looking for individuals and groups to take ownership of projects to contribute to this festival. This could be a stall, a performance, a speech, installation art, or anything else to contribute to a family friendly atmosphere of democracy in action.
