Weekly Round Up: Friday 28th August
Wow, what a killer week of tour announcements!! Early in the piece we announced that Tame Impala would be coming to New Zealand to play two November shows with Silicon, and from there the week just kept on giving. The Brian Jonestown Massacre announced four performances on these shores for November. That same month will see San Fran psych outfit Moon Duo returning as a three-piece for a couple of shows. Then in December, New York pair Ratatat are coming back for two concerts. And also in December, old school Scottish punks The Exploited will be swinging by for a three-date tour. Looking forward to 2016, American roots musician JD McPherson will be hitting Auckland for a February show with his four-piece band. And Iron Maiden have tipped that they will be heading this way in May in their very own jumbo jet.
In release news, Auckland trio Street Chant revealed details of their long-awaited and highly-anticipated second album Hauora, news of which came with a brilliant video for lead single 'Pedestrian Support League'. The Coolies quietly announced the impending arrival of new album Kaka, through American label Feeding Tube Records. Dunedin three-piece The Shifting Sands unveiled a stellar new single as they near the October release date for their album Cosmic Radio Station. A raucous new cut surfaced from Christchurch outfit Log Horn Breed, who appear to be working on a full-length album. Further abroad, Natasha Khan, aka Bat For Lashes, uncovered her new project Sexwitch, which is a collab between herself, kraut-psych act Toy and producer Dan Carey. And Foals shared a great video for single 'London Thunder' in the lead up to releasing new album What Went Down, which is out today.
This week's Caught Live is some fan-shot footage of Morrissey performing 'Suedehead' at FYF Fest in Los Angeles earlier this week...
