Live Photos: Chronophonium Still-Awaiting-Sentencing Party - Whammy, Auckland
What was meant to be a 'Chrony Post-Sentencing Bailout' party to help raise funds for the embattled Chronophonium festival following its prosecution by the Thames-Coromandel District Council, evolved into a Still-Awaiting-Sentencing Party as the festival organisers await their delayed court date. The issues stem back to the new year period when the festival was served an abatement notice by the council just two weeks before Chronophonium was set to go ahead. Festival organisers decided to move forward with the festival, and are now being prosecuted by the council which is likely to result in a sizeable fine. However their Indication of Sentence Hearing set for September 25th, when they were to learn the size of the fine, has been pushed back.
Photographer Joon Yang went along to the Still-Awaiting-Sentencing-Party on Saturday night at Auckland's Whammy Bar where Chrony supporters could pay a koha to soak up the sounds of Sea Views, Greenfog, Ron Gallipoli, Team Cat Food and Lipgloss Slumberparty while contributing to the as-yet-unknown amount of the fine. Take a look through Joon's great shots below...
