Bewitching trio The Moonlight are sharing their self-titled debut album ahead of its official release on Friday. Formed in 2014 from members of Xanadu and Lost Rockets, the Auckland three-piece have spent the last year conjuring up songs that are built around dark melodies and guitar-based riffs - their signature sound taking hold right from the onset, as the group explain...

"When we started making the record we didn't have a name. But we did have a band. Gwen [Norcliffe] was playing bass and doing backing vocals, Tim was singing and playing guitar, and Nich drumming. Gwen moved to the UK during that time and Tim & Nich continued on to finish the project."

"While we were able to record and mix everything ourselves, the process took awhile and there were a fair few songs left on the cutting room floor. Eventually, once the album was done, Nich switched to bass and John joined on drums."

Sink your teeth into the album below and check out the show dates...

The Moonlight are hitting the road for a string of album release shows starting this Saturday 10th October at the Audio Foundation in Auckland with support from Civil Union and File Folder. head over here for details of the upcoming Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin shows.
