Weekly Round Up: Friday 18th March

Friday 18th March, 2016 3:49PM

Some really great local tours were announced this week. Beastwars revealed dates for 'The Death Of All Things Album Release Tour' which will be their last New Zealand shows for 2016. Wellington trio Mermaidens have a bunch of North Island dates lined up to support the release of their debut record Undergrowth. Street Chant announced an eight-date nationwide tour to celebrate the arrival their long-awaited sophomore album Hauora. Ex-pats Average Rap Band have planned two New Zealand shows for May. And from further abroad, dancehall original Johnny Osbourne is heading to Auckland for one April show with Max Glazer.

In release news, punks foursome Cool Runnings announced they are splitting up, and as a parting gift shared new EP Welcome To Hell. Auckland artist i.e. crazy shared the intriguing second single from her upcoming debut album. Mali Mali aka Ben Tolich premiered his pensive track 'Nice But No Soul' as he gets ready to release his second album. We caught the first recording from psych-doom group sere, an awesome cover of 'Alien Boy' lifted off a local Wipers tribute compilation. And Tauranga's Threat.Meet.Protocol have unveiled their new album Mindless Consumption, which sees the group reunited with their former label Muzai.

This week's Caught Live is the short-lived Auckland supergroup Guardian Singles performing their song 'Can't Stop Moving' at Chronophonium. Word has it there is some recordings in the works, but in the meantime check this out....
