Video: Pikelet - The Neighbour's Grass
Melbourne solo artist Pikelet (aka Evelyn Morris) has released a glitchy clip for 'The Neighbour's Grass', lifted off forthcoming EP Tronc. Morris, who identifies as gender non-binary, says director Ece Yavuz hit the nail on the head with the video. "I interpret Ece’s read of the song to be about body dysphoria and I guess I see some anxiety in it also. The song for me was about gender dysphoria at first and also some anger related to feminist activities I've been engaged with. So I felt her clip accurately portrayed the feeling of the song," they explain.
Morris recently conducted an interesting, frank and highly topical interview with Steve Albini of Shellac, where they discuss the masculinity of Shellac's music and audience, sexual assault in the musical community, and Albini's own views on feminism. You can read that piece over on Listen, but first check out the clip below...
Tronc is slated for release this Friday 6th May via Chapter Music
Pikelet will be making an appearance at this year's Borderline Festival, head over here for more information and to buy tickets.
