Weekly Round Up: Friday 20th May
Tour news was all about quality over quantity this week. Georgian heavy metal outfit Black Tusk announced one Auckland show for early August. Hip hop soul collective The Internet revealed dates for two shows on these shores. The Kills confirmed that they'll be gracing New Zealand soil for two shows in July. And in local tour news, Civil Union will soon be making tracks around the country in support of their new album Seasick Lovedrunk which was released yesterday via Melted Ice Cream.
In release news some fantastic stuff came out of the woodwork this week, with Wellington musician Benny's Videos dropping two beautiful tracks out of the blue. From the same neck of the woods, sonic adventurer i.ryoko unveiled a whirling new single via End Of The Alphabet Records. Another favourite from this week was the amazing new single 'Heel' from Auckland duo Mellow Grave. And new local label Margins, who specialise in house and techno, have unveiled their debut compilation. In international news, Die Antwoord let loose a reggae-tinged taster of their upcoming mixtape. And we were pleased to present a pre-release stream of Beth Orton's new album due out next week.
This week's Caught Live is Metallica frontman James Hetfield delivering an acoustic version of 'Motorbreath' in San Francisco a few days ago...
