Weekly Round Up: Friday 8th July

Friday 8th July, 2016 5:20PM

Heaps of cool tour news came up this week. New Jersey group Screaming Females revealed four dates for their first ever tour on New Zealand soil. Rockabilly veteran Reverend Horton Heat also announced his debut appearance on these shores with three shows up his sleeve. And ANOTHER group to plan their first jaunt here is San Fran psych-metal group Acid King, who have announced two dates for September. Richie Ramone, who is perhaps best known as the drummer for The Ramones, is coming with his band for two shows in October. And on the local front, Wellington's So Laid Back Country China have announced a four-date tour to celebrate the release of their new album Sin Cristales. And Auckland's Yukon Era have lined up a tour with their Palmy pals Soda Boyz to celebrate their respective releases.

In release news, we were lucky to premiere some awesome local offerings this week. From Wellington experimental rock duo Into Orbit we had the killer single 'Gilgamesh'. Auckland psych-surf trio Echo Ohs dished up their brand new single 'You Don't Mind'. And rock 'n' roll outfit The Situations let loose their delightful video for 'No Worries' which was directed by a 12-year-old. We also shared the latest single from The Veils who are gearing up to release their new album Total Depravity next month. In overseas news, Crystal Castles lifted the lid off a video for their new single 'Concrete' with new singer Edith Frances. Jamie xx revealed an incredible video for his track 'Gosh'. And The Pixies shared their fantastic new cut 'Um Chagga Lagga' as they ready to release a new record in September.

This weeks Caught Live is a video shot by Golden Dawn's Matthew Crawley of Lubin Rains (of The Vietnam War, pictured above circa 2011!!) performing 'Heavy On My Mind' as part of a heart-wrenching set with Matt Short on guitar. As Crawley says "Sorry it's a bit dark, it was a bit dark."
