Listen/Watch: Lorde – Green Light

After seemingly relentless teasers, New Zealand’s pop darling Lorde has finally dropped the first single from her upcoming sophomore album Melodrama. Titled 'Green Light', the tune features Lorde’s signature oaken vocal tones backed by an EDM flavoured beat, which contrasts the minimalist style of the tunes of her award-winning debut Pure Heroine. Lyrics such as “Sometimes I wake up in a different bedroom / I whisper things, the city sings them back to you” certainly adhere to the album’s title. The starlet explained on Twitter that the forthcoming album is an autobiographical experience.

LA film-smith Grant Singer, who has worked with the likes of Taylor Smith, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande and DIIV, directed the clip, which depicts Lorde romping through a sprawling metropolis singing along, full bore to her MP3 player with the mania of someone amidst the chaos of their first broken heart.
