Premiere: Auckland's Magic Factory Make VHS Gold With 'Mother Nature' Video

Wednesday 9th August, 2017 1:28PM

Auckland nine-piece outfit Magic Factory have rolled out new single 'Mother Nature' along with a brilliant VHS-shot clip as they inch closer to the release of debut album Working With Gold next week. Directed by Joel Taco (who also made this video for Tourettes), the clip makes liberal use of lo-fi green screen technology and footage of the band fooling around with miniature ponies - not to mention plenty of gratuitous imagery of wild creatures great and small. Speaking to the video's genesis, bandmember Rory Treadaway told UTR:

"This song is just about letting Nature into your heart. Like letting it wash all over you. It's one of the first songs we came up with when we started the band last year and it's always real fun to play live. Joel Taco shot and directed the video and he's just completely hit it out of the ball park. He spent two afternoons with us shooting on a green screen in backyards with a dodgy VHS camera and the result is so beautiful it kills me. Hanging with the miniature ponies was real nice too. Mother Nature's a spirit man, serene and calm, just let her in she won't do you no harm."

The 12-song album is out next Friday via local label 1:12 Records. Soak up the beauty of 'Mother Nature' below, and scroll down to see details of the release show...
