Wooden Shjips Share Mellow Single 'Red Line'
San Francisco psychedelic travellers Wooden Shjips have followed up their seriously baked recent single 'Staring At The Sun' with a mind-expanding tune titled 'Red Line'. Gentle grooves and hypnotic organ tones entice listeners to bask in the band's swirling world of sound, it's just the thing to sooth our jangled nerves after a big night out at yesterday's Taite Music Prize. The single is the latest release from the four-piece's first album in five years V., guitarist Ripley Johnson shared his ideas around 'Red Line' in a statement...
"This song is about trying to find equanimity as life continuously pulls you in different directions, emotionally and psychically. The bursts of backwards guitar are the sonic representation of that, being pulled out of your normal forward momentum, as the beat goes on."
'V.' will be out Friday 28 May via Thrill Jockey.
