Blanck Mass Drops Two Intense Tracks 'Odd Scene' + 'Shit Luck'
All sorts of exclusive sonic morsels were doled out for Record Store Day 2018 on Saturday, including a very tasty and intense 12" single ‘Odd Scene / Shit Luck’ from UK artist Blanck Mass, the solo electronic project of Benjamin John Power of Fuck Buttons. While the artist often uses his solo moniker to dive deep into beautifully constructed drone works (famously showcased in the use of his track 'Sundowner' for the 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony in London), his latest release features two tight cuts of in-the-pocket metal riffage and on-the-edge screaming. Power discussed the notable shift in tone in a statement, saying “I grew up playing in punk and hardcore bands so this is no new venture for me, but perhaps as far as Blanck Mass released material goes ‘Odd Scene / Shit Luck’ might be the snottiest... Here we have a couple of anti-macho pop songs about a pair of walking hardons I surreptitiously observed at a truck stop whilst I was out touring last year.” Stream both tracks below...
‘Odd Scene / Shit Luck’ is out now via Sacred Bones Records.
