Live Photos: Créme Jéan, Roy Irwin, Skilaa - The Wine Cellar, Auckland
Auckland bedroom garage-pop maestro Créme Jéan (aka Bradley Fafejta of Thousand Island and Brand New Math) celebrated the release of his debut single 'Sleepin' (At My House)' by gathering together a team of musical buds to tear it up at Whammy Backroom on Thursday, alongside party starting neo-soul big band Skilaa and a solo set by local guitar hero Roy Irwin. Créme Jéan's recording collaborator Princess Chelsea wasn't present as she's off currently playing her songs around Europe, Fafejta was however joined by Edward Castelow of Dictaphone Blues on skins as part of his talented live crew, who'll be right back at it this Friday at Whammy Backroom with cyber duo Queen Neptune and ultra-mysterious Howick lo-fi poppers Cindy. Roy Irwin is looking particularly enigmatic in photographer Connor Crawford's sublime snaps of the show - check them out here...
