Listen To Mac DeMarco Cover Haruomi Hosono's 'Honey Moon'

Monday 27th August, 2018 1:39PM

Canadian indie icon Mac DeMarco has unveiled a delectably dreamy cover of legendary Japanese pop artist Haruomi Hosono's (Yellow Magic Orchestra, Happy End, Snakeman Show) song 'Honey Moon', from his 1975 album Tropical Dandy. Listening to DeMarco's laxed-out rendition (sung in Japanese) is like dipping your toes in a cool mountain stream on a hot summer's day. The irrepressible North American singer and multi-instrumentalist has just launched his new independant label appropriately titled Mac's Records, his crisp cover will be available on 7" vinyl in early 2019 via Seattle tastemakers Light In The Attic Records, who are currently re-issuing five albums by Haroumi Hosono on vinyl LP. The Spotify stream which was available over the weekend seems to have temporarily dematerialised, luckily the song can currently be listened to via Youtube below, along with a stream of the sparkling original version for good measure...

Haruomi Hosono & Mac DeMarco 'Honey Moon' is out on 7" vinyl on Friday 11th January via Light In The Attic.
