Reb Fountain Shares Swirling Video 'The Arrangement'

Wednesday 12th September, 2018 2:04PM

Auckland songwriter Reb Fountain has unveiled a gorgeously shot video for her hypnotically swirling single 'The Arrangement', drawn from the artist's 2017 album Little Arrows. The powerful song's head-spinning melodies are complemented by vertiginous visuals of bodies in motion, directed by Lola Fountain-Best and starring Eve Armstrong-Coop and Tashy H'ng. The dramatically orchestrated, soaring number is a boisterous flip-side to Fountain's award-winning stripped back single 'Hopeful and Hopeless', and wouldn't sound at all out of place on a mid-period Kate Bush album. You can catch the artist performing with Tom Cunliffe at Auckland's Southern Fork Americana Fest 2018 this October - she lifted the lid on the ideas behind the video in a statement, read her words and watch 'The Arrangement' below...

"The Arrangement is about awakening to your strength when you’ve felt disempowered and finding power in your self expression. It was important to us to represent the freedom and beauty of female empowerment through bodily expression. It’s ok for women to be strong, vulnerable, sensual, safe … and naked … our bodies are worth valuing and sharing. We wanted to (re)frame the female body beyond the male gaze; we’ve offered a very feminine point of view of what it means to embrace oneself.”

Reb Fountain is playing with Tom Cunliffe on Friday 12th October at Auckland's Tuning Fork as part of the Southern Fork Americana Fest 2018, proudly presented by Undertheradar. For more info head along here.
