Premiere: Vincent H.L Shares Haunting Video 'Going Easy'

Thursday 25th October, 2018 10:31AM

Auckland "nightmare country" artist Vincent H.L's recent album Weird Days is easily one of the most striking debuts to materialise from Aotearoa this year. The singer's world-weary croon and dazed instrumentation is showcased to haunting effect on the record's latest single 'Going Easy', accompanied by a cinematic video by director Kate Tindall that we're thrilled to premiere here. Evocative images filmed by Tindall and the songwriter of crackling fires, looming landscapes and graceful wildlife complement the artist's eerie tale, conjuring strange psychic sensations of life on the move. Vincent H.L and his killer live band are appearing at Whammyfest 2018 this weekend, and are hitting Christchurch's Space Academy for a show with Brian Tamaki and The Kool Aid Kids, and The Opawa 45s on Friday 9th November. Read his words on the origin of the clip and vibe out below...

"The video is footage that Kate and I filmed over the past few years as we moved around. It’s sort of observational and captures those quiet, solitary moments that are usually forgotten."

'Weird Days' is out now digitally and on vinyl via 1:12 Records.
