Listen To Milk's Self-Titled New Album
Auckland musical polymath Reuben Winter (Totems, Caroles) has shared the long-awaited latest album from his guitar-centric project milk, his first long-player under that name since 2016's issue(s). The new record is milk's first to feature guest artists, with selected tracks showcasing the skills of JY Lee (Yoko-Zuna), Emma Hall-Phillips (Aw B) and Winter's sadly departed friend and collaborator Adison Whitley (David Adison, NIISA), who the collection is dedicated to. Whitley played guitar on latest single 'Sugar Glider' - you can experience a next-level clip for the song created by local director David Becham below. Milk's self-titled ten track album is a fierce and fearless vision quest through scorched guitars, swirling synths and transcendental melodies, a genre-defying intersection of blissful shoegaze, bone-crunching metal, angular new wave and heartfelt grunge-pop. We caught up with Winter who shed light on his compelling new creation...
"The album has been in the works since late 2016 and is the first milk release to have more than one person feature on it... It started off as one thing and kinda mutated into another as situations in my life changed. It’s dedicated to my friend / brother / son /bandmate Adison Whitley who passed away almost a year ago. The cover is a reference to a black metal album that I won't name."
You can experience milk live at their album launch party with Cindy, Being. and Ary and The Jansens on Saturday 2nd February at Grey Lynn Library Hall.
'Milk' is out digitally "on all good streaming services" and on limited edition cassette via Prison Tapes.
