Cockney Rejects NZ Tour New Dates Announced

Tuesday 26th February, 2019 2:14PM

English punk veterans Cockney Rejects were unfortunately recently required to reschedule their first ever New Zealand tour, originally slated to kick off in late February. Happily the trailblazing rabble-rousers are now back on track in their commitment to make it to our shores, with a fresh round of shows ready to hit local punters hard this July. Cockney Rejects trace their origins all the way back to late-70s East End London, the band's iconic 1980 song 'Oi Oi Oi' was a rallying cry for the rough and rowdy Oi! / street punk genre. The organisers shared a statement around the new dates, saying "Thank you for your patience while the Cockney Rejects went through their personal circumstances. We are pleased to announce the re-scheduled dates. All tickets for the previous dates are valid."

UPDATE 5/04/19: the organisers have announced Cockney Rejects' New Zealand tour has now been rescheduled to October, stating "apologies for this extra change and all tickets previously purchased are valid for the new dates. ". Here are the new dates...

Press release:

Rarely in the long history of British rock’n’roll has there been a story of such depth, magnitude and sheer turbulence as that of the Cockney Rejects. Formed in late Seventies East End London by brothers Jeff and Micky Geggus, their 1980 song “Oi, Oi, Oi” was the anthem of a generation and the inspiration for what would become the Oi! / Street Punk Music genre.

In over 35 years of existence the Cockney Rejects have penned numerous classic songs such as “The Greatest Cockney Ripoff”, “I’m Not a Fool”, “Bad Man”, “War on the Terraces”, “Police Car” that have helped define and shape the Street Punk genre.

The Rejects have headlined countless shows and festivals, and in 2012 they were the subject of a feature length documentary, ‘East End Babylon’. So it could be said they've done it all, well almost all that is except they have never played on New Zealand shores.

This July sees this all about to change with a full length tour of New Zealand announced in what promises to one of the most anticipated tours of its kind to hit down under in years.

Join the Rejects- You won’t have a better night out all year!
