Caught Live: Unchained XL Performs 'Weight On My Bars Pt. 3' For RNZ
Auckland’s UK born, Nigerian rapper and producer Unchained XL released last month The Migrant Mind, a 5-track EP of energetic hip hop bangers with a lyrical focus on identity, culture and the migrant experience. Talking with Neck Of The Woods, UXL aka Hugh Ozumba said the The Migrant Mind's message has taken on heavier meaning following the Christchurch terror attacks, and it’s his hope that “people will take away more than just music and a good time and be inspired to confront these issues”. The hard-gigging artist is appearing next Friday at the latest iteration of 95bFM's Drive Island series of free all ages events at Ellen Melville Centre, tearing it up alongside local guitar destroyer milk, and his upcoming shows include an appearance with Auckland pop hotshot Geoff Ong in mid-April. Unchained XL recently dropped by RNZ's studios for a live-to-air session, get a taste of what's to come with his superb live version with band of 'Weight On My Bars Pt. 3', originally from 2018's Foreign Legacy EP below...
