Pickle Darling + Harris Feature On Z Tapes 'Spring 2019' Collection

Lovers of top tier bedroom-pop sounds bubbling up from Aotearoa's underground are likely to be aware of the fine work of Slovakian independent imprint Z Tapes, who released Christchurch songwriter Pickle Darling's superb debut album Bigness at the beginning of this year. Z Tapes have unveiled their Spring 2019 compilation (naturally enough during the Southern Hemisphere's autumn), featuring 28 tracks from artists from throughout the globe, including a fresh tune by Wellington's Harris (aka Harris Mackenzie Boock), who dropped his dreamy debut long-player Bed Bugs in late 2017. Pickle Darling's contribution is an intimate demo recording of a what appears to be a new song titled 'In Heaven' (no relation to the Eraserhead classic) featuring a charming rap-like breakdown, while Harris' 'Painting The Room Red' is a guitar-led number overflowing with celestial vocal harmonies, a gorgeous standalone tune hinting at the contents of his as-yet-unnamed forthcoming second album.
