Quelle Chris Drops Nostalgia-Tinged Clip ‘WYRM’

Quelle Chris Drops Nostalgia-Tinged Clip ‘WYRM’

Thursday 9th May, 2019 1:27PM

US rapper and producer Quelle Chris has shared a dazed clip for 'WYRM' ('Will You Remember Me'), drawn from his powerful recent album Guns, which gave us the superb 'Obamacare'. Filmed by Grégoire Verbeke on Kodak Super 8 film stock, the artist strolls his way around a blue-sky afternoon in Brussels – sipping coffee, eating oranges, sitting in a daffodil field. He raps over lounge-y piano about bleak ideas, and the fuzzy, low-key video feels like a stark contrast to the serious issues he addresses. Quelle Chris explains that the choice of camera was a way of turning the afternoon into a captured memory…

"So many of my memories are collections of collages from home videos, photo books and boxes of developed pictures. The lucky few who have escaped the fate of moments lost in disposable cameras. VHS and mini cam tapes. Orphans of history without a home. This particular memory was captured on a Canon 814XL camera and shot with Kodak Super8. Through the lens of Grégoire Verbeke on a lovely afternoon in Brussels. A moment trapped in time. Ageless. Even as we fade. Will you remember?"

Be transported to a crisp, sunny Brussels in the video for 'WYRM'…

'Guns' is out now via Mello Music Group.
