French For Rabbits Announce National Tour

Friday 12th July, 2019 10:00AM

Fresh from touring the USA (including SXSW) in celebration of the worldwide release of their sophomore album The Weight of Melted Snow, Pōneke's French For Rabbits have announced their return to local stages with a four-date tour of Aotearoa this August. The core songwriting team of Brooke Singer and John Fitzgerald with Ben Lemi, Penelope Esplin and Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa will premiere a selection of new material – delving into such diverse topics as "climate change, feminism, memory loss, art and money, insomnia and the preservation of memories in objects" – ahead of hitting the studio to record their third long player. Limited cassette editions of The Weight of Melted Snow will be available at the shows, which will feature regional support from Repulsive Woman (who recently spoke with Singer about her debut album), Ryan Fisherman & The Settlers of Catan, Antony Jeffares (and band), plus more guests to be announced. French For Rabbits events are always a special occasion, don't miss them at the dates below...

Press release:

Following on from the international release of their sophomore album ‘The Weight of Melted Snow’ on Muscle Beach Records, an extensive USA tour and appearances at SXSW this year, Wellington dream-pop band French for Rabbits have announced a four-date New Zealand tour this August.

The tour will see the band trial a fresh batch of new songs ahead of recording for their third full length record. The songs cover a wide range of subjects – climate change, feminism, memory loss, art and money, insomnia and the preservation of memories in objects.

The band will also release a beautifully designed limited edition cassette of The Weight of Melted Snow. These will be available exclusively on the tour and via the band’s Bandcamp page from August 9.

Dunedin’s show see the band perform in the Crypt at St Pauls Cathedral with Repulsive Woman (who recently released a stellar new record) in support.
